Pre-purchase car inspection in Dubai

Check the car before paying a deposit or completing the purchase. Inspector examines the agreed mechanical, bodywork and diagnostic checks, with a road test where included and possible. The report explains the findings, anything that could not be checked and questions to resolve with the seller.

The right moment

Inspect before you pay or transfer

For a pre-purchase car inspection in Dubai, book after you have shortlisted a serious car but before you pay a deposit, sign a final agreement or transfer ownership. Confirm access with the seller and leave time to read the report and arrange any follow-up checks.

01

Send the correct vehicle details

Share the advertised make, model, model year, specification and location. Include any disclosed fault, modification, warning light or previous repair so Inspector can quote the right scope.

02

Confirm seller access

Ask the seller or dealer to allow access to the cabin, engine bay, diagnostic port and available documents. Confirm road-test permission separately before the visit.

03

Avoid hiding cold-start behavior

Where practical, ask the seller not to warm the vehicle immediately before the appointment. A pre-heated engine can hide useful cold-start observations.

04

Record access limits

The inspector records what can be observed with the quoted methods and available access. Any check that cannot be completed should appear clearly as a limitation in the report.

05

Use the report before payment

Review the priority findings, unanswered questions and recommended follow-up before a deposit, finance approval, ownership transfer or final acceptance.

Buyer decision guide

What you need to know before buying

Compare the seller’s description with the car’s inspected condition. Ask which problems were observed and what still needs testing before you commit to the purchase.

Identity and supplied records

Buyer questionDoes the vehicle presented align with the listing and the information supplied for the booking?

What it cannot confirmAn inspection does not authenticate every document, guarantee recorded mileage or provide automatic access to government, insurer, dealer or manufacturer databases.

Bodywork and previous repairs

Buyer questionAre there visible paint, panel, fastener, gap, finish or structural clues that merit closer investigation?

What it cannot confirmVisible evidence cannot prove a complete accident history. Paint-depth measurement and underbody access must be included in the agreed scope to support a deeper review.

Mechanical condition

Buyer questionWhat can be observed in the engine bay, cooling system, transmission behavior, steering, suspension, brakes, tires and accessible drivetrain?

What it cannot confirmNon-invasive checks do not prove the full internal condition of an engine, gearbox or sealed component. Compression, pressure, fluid analysis and dismantling are separate specialist tests unless expressly quoted.

Electronic information

Buyer questionWhich warning lamps, functions and readable control modules show relevant information at the time?

What it cannot confirmA stored fault code identifies a recorded condition or affected circuit. It does not automatically prove which part has failed or what repair will solve it.

Road behavior

Buyer questionWhen a road test is included and permitted, how does the vehicle start, steer, brake, shift, respond and sound under the available conditions?

What it cannot confirmTraffic, route, speed, fuel level, warning condition, insurance, registration and seller permission can restrict or prevent the road test.

Checks included in the quote

What the pre-purchase inspection can cover

The quoted scope should match the car and your buying concerns. Ask Inspector to state which checks are included, where the vehicle will be inspected and whether mobile or workshop access changes the evidence available.

01

Vehicle identity and listing details

Compare the vehicle presented with visible identity details, the listing and the information supplied for booking. Raise any mismatch with the seller or relevant authority before proceeding.

02

Exterior, body and paint

Check accessible panels, trim, glass, lights, closures, surface condition, panel gaps and visible repair evidence. Confirm whether paint-depth readings are part of your quotation.

03

Engine bay and cooling system

Review accessible fluids, hoses, reservoirs, mounting areas, leaks, noises and operating behavior without dismantling. This can reveal concerns, but it does not certify the engine’s internal condition.

04

Steering, suspension, brakes and tires

Review accessible components, tire condition and wear patterns, wheel condition, warning indicators and behavior during the static inspection or permitted road test.

05

Cabin and convenience systems

Operate agreed controls, displays, climate functions, windows, locks, seating functions and other accessible equipment. Intermittent faults may not appear during one visit.

06

Diagnostic scan, underside and road test

Confirm diagnostic coverage, the underbody method, lift availability and road-test inclusion before booking. These choices affect what the inspector can verify.

Paint-depth measurement during a pre-purchase car inspection
Paint readings can add evidence about refinishing, but a reading must be interpreted with panel condition, gaps, fasteners and other visible clues.
Methods with boundaries

Ask about diagnostics and underbody access

Package names can hide important differences. Ask how the underside will be viewed, which electronic systems can be scanned and how missed or unavailable checks will appear in the report.

Diagnostic scan

When included, a compatible scan can record information from accessible control modules, current or stored faults and selected live data. The scan should be interpreted beside warning lamps, symptoms and physical observations.

Important limit
A code is not a complete diagnosis. Further electrical testing, circuit checks, software access or component testing may be needed at a separate cost.

Underbody review

Ground-level visibility, ramps and a workshop lift provide different access. Protective covers, low ride height and restricted parking can hide leaks, impact evidence, corrosion or component condition.

Important limit
Confirm whether lift access is included. Dismantling covers or shields is not part of a normal non-invasive inspection unless separately agreed.

Technician carrying out an in-cabin diagnostic scan before a used-car purchase
Scan access and module coverage depend on the vehicle and quoted equipment.
Technician inspecting the underbody of a used vehicle on a workshop lift before purchase
Lift access provides a different view from an inspection completed at ground level.
From report to action

Decide by risk, not fault count

Ten minor wear items may matter less than one unresolved structural, overheating, braking or transmission concern. Judge the report by the cost, safety relevance and uncertainty of each finding, not by the total number of notes.

Vehicle condition findings being reviewed with a technician before a purchase decision
The report should support the next question, not replace the buyer’s final decision.
Review the findings before proceeding

The observed condition and limitations are acceptable to you. Retain the report, plan maintenance and make sure any negotiated statement is written into the transaction documents.

Clarify with the seller

A record, specification, warning, repair or access question needs a direct answer before you decide. A seller’s explanation is information to assess, not automatic technical proof.

Request diagnosis

The inspection identifies a symptom or code but cannot confirm the cause non-invasively. Arrange the relevant mechanical, electrical or system-specific diagnosis before pricing a repair.

Request deeper access

The underside, covered component or road behavior is central to the decision but could not be inspected. Arrange a workshop check, lift access or another authorized method.

Pause the transaction

A material concern, seller refusal or unresolved inconsistency exceeds the level of uncertainty you are prepared to accept. Keep payment and transfer decisions separate from the pressure of the viewing.

Current published cost

Pre-purchase inspection price in Dubai

Inspector’s published range for a pre-purchase car inspection in Dubai is AED 500–800. This is an indicative range, not a fixed price for every car. Your exact total depends on the vehicle, location, access and inspection methods requested.

This is Inspector’s published pre-purchase range. It is not a competitor or broad market estimate.

VAT
Inspector’s public price source does not consistently state whether VAT is included. Ask for VAT treatment and the total payable amount in writing.
Delivery
Confirm workshop or mobile delivery. A buyer-focused inspection at the seller’s location must also satisfy the access limits described on the mobile car inspection page.
Vehicle category
Send the exact make, model, year, specification and modification details. Luxury, performance, classic, salvage-condition, hybrid or electric vehicles may require a different quoted scope.
Methods
Ask the quotation to state diagnostic scan, paint-depth testing, underbody method, lift access, road test, photographs, report format and findings explanation.
Separate work
Compression, pressure, alignment, specialist battery, circuit, dismantling or repair-estimate work should be listed separately if recommended.

For Inspector’s complete package list, diagnostic references, optional-cost questions and current pricing conditions, use the car inspection cost guide.

Choose the access that fits the car

Choose mobile or workshop inspection

Choose the location that supports the evidence you need. A mobile visit is convenient at the seller’s location, while a workshop may provide better underbody access or specialist equipment. Confirm the method before booking.

What an inspection cannot confirm

What the inspection cannot guarantee

A clear report states what could not be checked or confirmed. These limits help you decide whether the available evidence is enough or whether the car needs records, workshop access or specialist testing before purchase.

  • No guarantee of future reliability or freedom from repair expense.
  • No guarantee that every intermittent, concealed or developing fault will appear during one appointment.
  • Visible checks cannot establish the full accident history.
  • No automatic authentication of mileage, service history, ownership or seller statements.
  • No proof of the complete internal condition of the engine, transmission, battery pack or sealed assemblies without specialist testing.
  • No dismantling unless separately authorized and quoted.
  • No official RTA roadworthiness or registration certificate.
  • No purchase recommendation that replaces the buyer’s financial, legal, insurance or ownership checks.

Pre-purchase inspection questions

How much is a pre-purchase car inspection in Dubai?

Inspector’s published pre-purchase inspection range is AED 500–800. The make, model, year, location and required methods are needed for the exact quotation. Confirm VAT and the total payable amount in writing.

Is VAT included in AED 500–800?

The public Inspector price source does not consistently state the VAT position. The written quotation should say whether VAT is included or added and show the total you will pay.

When should I arrange the inspection?

Arrange it after the car is a serious candidate and before a deposit, transfer or final acceptance. Leave time to review the report and complete any specialist follow-up the findings justify.

Can the inspection take place at the seller’s location?

Mobile inspection may be available when the Dubai location, lighting, space, permission and requested scope are suitable. Confirm the access and price before the inspector travels.

Is a diagnostic scan included?

Ask for scan coverage to be stated in the quotation. When included, access still depends on the diagnostic port, the vehicle and compatible equipment. A stored code does not by itself identify the failed part.

Is paint-depth measurement included?

Do not assume it from the package name. Confirm paint-depth testing in the quoted scope. Readings can support a repair-evidence assessment but do not prove the vehicle’s complete accident history.

Will the car be inspected on a lift?

Lift use depends on workshop delivery, access and the agreed method. A mobile visit normally cannot provide the same underside view. The report should state any underbody limitation.

Does the price include a road test?

Confirm road-test inclusion before booking. It can proceed only with permission and when the vehicle, registration, insurance, route and traffic conditions permit safe and lawful use.

Can Inspector verify the mileage?

The inspection can record the displayed mileage and note inconsistencies in supplied records or vehicle condition. It does not automatically authenticate mileage or access every external database.

Can the inspection prove the car is accident-free?

No. It can identify visible repair and damage clues within the accessible scope. A complete history may require records or database checks outside the inspection, and some concealed repairs need deeper access.

What if the seller refuses access?

A restricted engine bay, diagnostic port, cabin, underside or road test reduces the evidence available. Confirm permissions before dispatch and ask Inspector to state its cancellation or return-visit terms in the quotation.

Do luxury or performance cars cost more?

The price depends on the model, diagnostic access and any specialist checks required. Send the exact specification and ask for a written quote.

Can Inspector assess classic or salvage-condition cars?

Inspector publishes specialist pages for classic vehicles and salvage-condition vehicles. These vehicles should be quoted against their construction, condition and access rather than assumed to fit a standard buyer scope.

Are hybrid and electric vehicles supported?

Confirm the exact model and requested checks before booking. Do not assume that a general inspection includes high-voltage work, battery-capacity testing or EV certification unless the quotation states that capability.

When will I receive the report?

Ask the quotation to state the report format, delivery method and timing. The report should identify findings, available evidence, limitations and recommended next steps. Use the inspection report guide to understand how to read it.

Does a pre-purchase inspection guarantee I will avoid repair costs?

No. It records evidence available at the time and can recommend deeper testing. It cannot guarantee future reliability, eliminate normal wear or reveal every hidden and intermittent fault.

Is Inspector’s pre-purchase inspection an official RTA test?

No. Inspector provides a private vehicle-condition inspection for the buyer. It is not an RTA testing center, does not issue an official roadworthiness certificate and cannot guarantee an RTA pass. Official testing and registration services remain separate.
